The ISACA Malta Chapter (www.isaca-malta.org) was officially formed in March 2005 and recognised as the 186th chapter in the global network of ISACA chapters. The ISACA Malta Chapter has 118 members out of which 53 are Certified Information Systems Auditors (CISA), 3 are Certified Information Security Managers (CISM) and 4 are Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT). The Malta Chapter strives to uphold ISACA International’s vision of: “Trust in, and value from, information systems” within the Maltese community. The primary purpose of the Malta Chapter is to promote the education of professionals for the improvement and development of their capabilities relating to IT Governance, auditing, control, assurance and security. The objectives of the Malta Chapter are:

  • To promote the education of, and help expand the knowledge and skills of its members in the interrelated fields of IT Governance, IS auditing, assurance, security, and control;
  • To encourage an open exchange of IT Governance, IS audit and control, assurance, and security techniques, approaches and problem solving by its members;
  • To promote adequate communication to keep members abreast of current events in IT Governance, IS audit and control, assurance, and security fields that can be of benefit to them and their employers,
  • To communicate to management, auditors, universities and to IT governance professionals the importance of establishing controls necessary to ensure the effective organisation and utilisation of information technology resources, and
  • To promote the Association’s professional certifications and IT Governance principles and standards.

The ISACA Malta Chapter organises regular educational sessions and other networking events, publishes a newsletter, and participates ISACA International initiatives and research. The ISACA Malta Chapter was awarded the KWSnipes Award as Best Small Chapter Worldwide in 2008 and as Best Small Chapter in the Europe & Africa region for 2006, 2007 and 2008, Website Silver award for 2006 & 2007 and Best Newsletter Worldwide for Small Chapters in 2008. The Malta Chapter had in October 2007 organised the Presidents Council Meeting (PCM) for the European and African Region. PCM meetings are held by ISACA in every region twice annually and serve as a communication medium and discussion form for Chapter Leaders and ISACA International Officials. Preceding the PCM, the chapter had a full day Conference focusing on IT Governance, Assurance and Security subjects.
